Bookshelf detail that’s infuriating thousands

Netflix’s new series Get Organised With The Home Edit premiered on the streaming service earlier this month and it’s the antithesis to the minimalist KonMari method.

Americans Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin are home organisation gurus who spend their days making over the homes of celebrities like Khloe Kardashian, Eva Longoria and Reese Witherspoon.

Their show, produced by Witherspoon, sees Clea and Joanna declutter A-listers’ spaces as well as making over the homes of well-deserving everyday people.

Even if you haven’t seen Get Organised yet you’ve probably seen photos of their makeovers on social media – but their decluttering style isn’t without its critics.

The, ahem, colourful way they organise things has divided viewers online, who have called it everything from “soothing” to absolutely terrifying.

Reason Facebook staffer turned down $87k

In a 6600 word memo obtained by Buzzfeed News, data scientist Sophie Zhang said she has “blood on her hands” from her time working at the tech giant, which she alleges has turned a blind eye to its platform being exploited as a political weapon.

Ms Zhang’s job at the company was on the “fake engagement team”, where she dealt with “bots influencing elections and the like” according to her LinkedIn profile.

“In the three years I’ve spent at Facebook, I’ve found multiple blatant attempts by foreign national governments to abuse our platform on vast scales to mislead their own citizenry, and caused international news on multiple occasions,” wrote Ms Zhang in the leaked internal memo.

“I have personally made decisions that affected national presidents without oversight, and taken action to enforce against so many prominent politicians globally that I’ve lost count,”... ( подробнее )

David Charles Glennie jailed for choking partner

David Charles Glennie’s temper boiled over during a booze-fuelled night on the town in November last year over an irrational belief his partner was cheating on him.

Glennie, 38, pleaded guilty in Brisbane District Court on Wednesday to four counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, two counts of strangulation and deprivation of liberty.

The court was told Glennie and his partner of five months went out for drinks in Brisbane on November 23 last year.

Crown prosecutor Chontelle Farnsworth said when the pair returned to their hotel room later that night, Glennie repeatedly punched, kicked and slapped his partner.

Case average dips below crucial virus threshold

The average daily case number for metropolitan Melbourne dipped to 49.6 on Wednesday after the state recorded 42 new virus cases and eight more deaths overnight.

Metropolitan Melbourne must reach an average daily case rate of between 30 and 50 cases over the preceding fortnight to trigger an easing of lockdown measures from September 28.

Premier Daniel Andrews revealed the government would be “making an assessment in a short amount of time” about being in the critical 30-to-50 band, and if that could lead to easing of restrictions before September 28.

“We can’t just get to a point in time where we’re just a fraction under that average of 14 days. It needs to be in that band of 30 to 50 and we need to wait a little bit longer,” he said on Wednesday.

“I know that’s challenging but, as we’ve said, we are on track, we are on track to getting to that 30-to-50 band and staying there so we... ( подробнее )

TikTok’s new ‘trusted tech partner’

An executive order TikTok has vowed to challenge called for the viral video app to be sold to an American company if it wanted to continue operating there due to data security fears and wider political conflict between the US and China.

According to “a person familiar with the matter” who spoke to The Wall Street Journal, the new partnership is not the same as a direct sale.

‘Looks familiar’: Author says character is not Daniel Andrews after claims go viral

The children’s book, which shoppers spotted at Coles, is from the Inspector Bubblewraps DO’S and DON’TS series by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton.

Artist and photographer Alexia Sinclair shared a photo of the book last week saying “My heart goes out to @DanielAndrewsMP,” with a broken heart emoji.

“Now Coles have published a book about him titled ‘Inspector Bubblewrapper’s DOs and DON’Ts’.”

One of the authors, Griffiths responded, insisting the likeness was accidental.

’Makes no sense’: Brides fight back over coronavirus wedding restrictions

Wendy El-Khoury, the founder of popular online marketplace Wedded Wonderland told news.com.au a lot of the rules “make no sense” when compared to restrictions on sporting matches and shopping centres, and are savaging businesses and disrupting couples’ lives.

Ms El-Khoury started the Save Our Weddings campaign in March this year when she realised the industry was being forgotten thanks to a lack of official representation.

She said there have been devastating effects, with one couple she knows having to put their IVF treatments on hold after postponing their wedding for a third time. She said couples are being affected “financially, emotionally and mentally” by the situation.

“I receive emails daily from once-upon-a-time thriving businesses looking for answers,” she said, adding some are struggling with the decision to close permanently, while others consider sacking their staff.

But when reports of the sale started hitting the internet, some people were a little miffed to see a picture of Barak Shragai, who along with Dor Mizrahi, runs IMGN media.

Wife slammed for exposing cheating husband in ad

After discovering her husband had been cheating on her, she decided to tell her entire neighbourhood by way of putting flyers on lamp posts around the family’s suburb in the US.

The posters display (what was presumed to be at the time) a happy family portrait with a big red circle around her hubby’s face as he lovingly has an arm around both his wife and son.

Parents warned to keep their children off of TikTok

Cybersecurity expert and child safety advocate Susan McLean posted a warning on Facebook about the horrifying video, advising parents the clip can also be hidden in innocent looking content such as cat videos.

“It is apparently now on Instagram but they are at least removing accounts posting it.

“Check in with your kids today, they most likely will know about it.
